Space Junk: ultimate threat

SPACE JUNK

Damn! Why don't people care about this issue? Just because it's the outer world? Just because you don't live there, people don't care about it.

Definition goes something like:

Its the artificial material left in the space by humans that keeps orbiting around the planet and posses threat to other useful entities in space is called Space Junk/ Debris

First of all HOW Space Junk is created?

It is created when humans launch objects into space and it remains there even after it's dead. A major example is two satellites crashing into each other. They break into millions of tiny particles and those odds and ends go and hit other satellites. Therefore a Chain Reaction takes place.

This huge junk consists of these elements in major quantities:

If we continue to do this, in a couple of years when we would be launching humans for moon or mars, there are high probabilities that a few debris would attack back on us. Holes in a space ship might result into death of a few hundreds or thousands depending on the size of the space craft.

This doesn't conclude that we shall stop launching rockets instead we draw curtains on not spending dollars on painting the massive rockets and invest into creating reusable rockets.  Reusability will significantly reduce the amount of junk we put into space. Usually getting back the last stage of rocket back to earth is quite difficult so we either let them burn up falling in the earth's atmosphere or we leave them in the graveyard orbit therefore more junk. If the complete rocket body returns back to land, it would be space-friendly + cost saving. Hence, win-win. Though its difficult, one day somebody would make it possible.

With this we arrive to an end and its Hardik here, signing off. I'll be writing an article on how we will clear up the clutter in the space. Till then, happy reading :)
